Our work focuses on developing comprehensive educational programs, promoting racial equity, enhancing community engagement, and constructing affordable housing solutions. We actively collaborate with local groups and individuals, ensuring a collective approach toward tackling the unique challenges faced by our community. MISSION
We Build Polk, CDC
We Build Polk, CDC is committed to the comprehensive empowerment and revitalization of underserved communities in Polk County, Florida. Our purpose is to create a more equitable society through education, training, and community engagement, specifically addressing the needs of economically and educationally disadvantaged youth, adults, and families.
We are steadfast in our commitment to promote racial equity, diligently working towards the removal of barriers for Black and Hispanic/Latino communities historically affected by inequality. This commitment is realized through culturally specific services, proactive community engagement, and strategic planning conducted in concert with other community-based groups.
Our efforts are concentrated in blighted or identified opportunity zones, where we strive to elevate economic, educational, and social levels, expand opportunities, reduce adversity, and eliminate racial tensions and discrimination. We actively combat community deterioration and juvenile delinquency, with an emphasis on fostering a community-wide interest and concern for these pressing issues.
Beyond social engagement, we are invested in improving living conditions by creating low-cost, safe, and sanitary housing accommodations for low-income families. Our work in housing construction and rehabilitation is an integral part of our mission to help those who otherwise would not have access to suitable living conditions.
